To get accurate measurements, lay the pants (preferably the ones you love) on a flat, hard surface, and if there are any wrinkles, smooth them as much as possible.
Width: place the ruler at the top of the pants at the waistband and measure from left to right.
Height: measure from the highest point of the pants down to the bottom.
